A wonderful opportunity to be a passenger on the aptly named Snowdonian train as it takes its annual 80 mile round trip through the glorious Snowdonia National Park. The journey will cover the full length of both the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways in one day. To add more interest to this scenic journey, the Snowdonian will be hauled by a variety of motive power. Don’t leave it too late to reserve your seat as this is a popular event and places will be limited. For a taste of what you can expect take a look at this great video that captured the journey made by the Snowdonian through North Wales’ scenic National Park. The Snowdonian event is a fund raising initiative in aid of the Diamond Jubilee Appeal which aims to continue improving the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, cementing their status as one of the world’s top attractions. Find out more about the Appeal here.

"Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely do it again!"

By Mr R Read - The Snowdonian, April 2024

Why not make this a luxury break by staying at the famous Italianate Portmeirion Village, nestled alongside the beautiful North Wales coastline. A stunning location from which to enjoy the Snowdonian and the scenic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

For a flavour of what you can expect read this blog by Gordon Rushton, who campaigned to get The Snowdonian train back on Welsh tracks.
